Jet Boeke is well known for her illustrations of the red cat Dikkie Dik. Originally, the picture books were made for the television show Sesame Street, her own cat was the inspiration and served as a model for the character Dikkie Dik. The first story was made in 1978, and still now new adventures of Dikkie Dik are being published each year.
